O’Donnell, O’Brien, Joyce (née Ing) 1924-2019
The family announces with sorrow her death in Sturgeon Falls on Monday, February 11th, 2019 at the age of 94 years. Daughter of the late Albert and Gladys Ing. Predeceased by her first husband Joe O’Donnell (1984), infant son Albert Macarius and by her second husband Edward O’Brien (2017). Beloved mother of Marian O’Donnell of Sturgeon Falls, Jo Ann Restoule (Fred) of Cache Bay, Diane Fraser (Bruce) of Kitchener, Tina Hill (Michael) of Hanmer. Loving step-mother of Kevin (Connie) O'Brien, Denis (Linda) O'Brien, Marilyn O'Brien and Sharon (Jack) Love. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her 11 grand-children and 19 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her brother Geophry Ing (Marilyn of Vancouver) and her sister June Lee (late John). Joyce was a longtime member of the Catholic Women’s League at Our Lady of Sorrow’s parish and a proud member of the Canadian War Brides Association. The family will receive friends at the Théorêt Bourgeois Funeral Home, Sturgeon Falls on Monday February 18th, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday February 19, 2019 at 11 am in Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Sturgeon Falls. A very special thank you to the staff at Au Chateau for their kind and loving care during her time there and particularly during her illness.
Joyce was born in London England, evacuated during the blitz and upon her return to the city met and married Joe O'Donnell, a Canadian Soldier. After the war, true to her nature, she gave up her life in London and moved to Canada to start a family and a life with him.
They moved to Verner in 1951 when they purchased a tourist camp on the Veuve River and she made her home in the area for the next 68 years.
She was known for her beauty, inside and out. Her door was always open and she was always there to lend a helping hand or offer a kind word for anyone who needed it. She believed and taught, that family was everything, she led by example and always had time for not only her children and grandchildren, but all of their friends. She was accomplished, determined and well read, but her greatest gift was her ability to love totally and without question.
She considered herself blessed to have such a loving family and it never occurred to her that she was responsible for it all.
