It is with heavy hearts that the Poitras family announces his passing in Sturgeon Falls, Saturday January 5th 2019 at the age of 83 years. Son of the late Marius Poitras and of the late Florestine Poitras (Legault). Beloved husband of 55 years of Monique Poitras (Auger) from Sturgeon Falls. Dear father to Dr. Michèle Poitras-Horner (Michael) and Martin Poitras (Christine) from Sturgeon Falls. Special pépère to Joelle Horner, Jacob and Éric Poitras. Brother of the late Robert (late Thérèse), late Maurice (Denise) of Gatineau, Mariette of Sudbury, Jeannette of Gatineau, Gabriel (Claire) of Orleans and Louise of Ottawa.
He will be fondly remembered as a devoted teacher at École secondaire Franco-Cité. He served his parish and community as a member of the Club Richelieu, the Recreation center, the Hall of Fame among many others. Humility, integrity, wisdom and tireless devotion describe him well. He was a source of inspiration for his family and for all those who knew him.
The family will receive friends and family at the Théorêt Bourgeois Funeral Home in Sturgeon Falls on Saturday January 12th, 2019 from 9am to 11am followed by a mass at Sacré-Coeur Church. In lieu of flowers, donations (by cheques only) to Au Château or to Sacré-Coeur parish would be appreciated. Special thank you to the staff at Au Château for their loving care.
