Obituary for Wayne LeBelle

Wayne LeBelle
LeBelle, Wayne (May 21 1939 – September 7 2017)

It is with heavy hearts that the family wishes to announce the passing of Wayne LeBelle. A beloved local historian has written his last chapter. Wayne was a wonderful man that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished.

He will be especially missed by his wife of 33 years, Carole Marion. He leaves his children Mark, Rollanda (Declan), Deborah (Gilles), Patrick (Jacklyn) & Liane (Mathieu) with many beautiful memories. He kept a special place in his heart for his son Jason, who predeceased him. His daughter in law, Betty Ann will fondly remember him. Wayne is considered grandpa or “Quoin Quoin” to nine grandchildren and three great grand children who loved every moment spent with him. Dear brother to Linda, Carl and Donna. Loved by his late sisters Rena, Glenda and Maureen. He was the son of the late Albertine and Clement LeBelle.

He will be remembered for his passion of history. He dedicated much of his life to preserving important pieces of local history and stories, which he published for his community. He will be missed by his First Nations friends in Nipissing and Dokis. He was a founding member La Société historique de Nipissing West, Le Club de généalogie du Nipissing Ouest and the West Nipissing English Historical Society. He retired from the Ministry of Natural Resources as a Communications Specialist. His other passion was politics. He was a former municipal councilor for the Town of Field, a dedicated member of the Field Economic Development group and served on some 40 different community associations and causes that were important to him. He owned and operated WFL communications over 35 years. The North Bay Nugget and Sturgeon Falls Tribune as well as numerous media outlets will remember him for his drive and the zeal he brought to his reporting. Often behind the camera, Wayne had an amazing talent for capturing beautiful moments and scenes. He was always taken with the everyday beauty in nature.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, September 15th 2017, at the Sturgeon River House Museum from 5:30pm to 9pm. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Notre-Dame des Victoires church in Field, Saturday September 16th 2017, at 11am.

Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or Au Chateau would be appreciated. (Cheques only) A special thank you to the wonderful 3rd floor staff Au Chateau for taking such great care of Wayne. Funeral and cremation arrangements in care of Théorêt Bourgeois Funeral Home, Sturgeon Falls.
