Martel, Cécile (née Michaud) 1928-2017

The family announces with profound sorrow her death in Sturgeon Falls on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the age of 88 years old. Daughter of the late Étienne Michaud and of the late Liliane Michaud (née Piché). Wife of the late Odéric (John) Martel. Beloved mother of Jean-Marie (Susan), Rachelle Fauteux (Henri), Lorraine Landry (Arthur), Denis (Dee), Luc (Freda), Maurice (Madeleine), Nicole Rousselle (Michel) and Claire Zahab (John). Predeceased by her son Raymond Martel (Tammy). Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her 21 grandchildren (predeceased by her grandson Michael) and her 20 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her sisters Jeannine Labelle (late Albain), Colette Labelle (late Jean-Guy), Aline Revoy (Jim), Gisèle Cédilot (Roger) and brothers Donald Michaud (Betty), Laurent Michaud (Claudette), and Yvon Michaud (Gizella). Predeceased by her brothers Paul (late Rolande), Marcel, Claude (Grace) and André (Gilda). She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews and dear friends. Cécile was a former president of the Joyeux Copains club for 10 years and was an active member of the Club d’âge d’Or, and former president of the Fédération des femmes canadiennes françaises. She was also a proud parishioner of the former Paroisse La Résurrection. The family will receive friends at the Théoret Bourgeois Funeral Home, Sturgeon Falls, Friday, May 12, 2017, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Sturgeon Falls, Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. A heartfelt thank you is expressed to the third floor and palliative care staff of the Au Château for their excellent care and compassion. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated. (Cheques only)
